Hanif Khan is a highly regarded tabla master from Mumbai, India. With his brilliant rhythms and extraordinarily sensitive and melodious tabla sound he touches his listeners worldwide.
Hanif Khanwas born in 1960 into a famous, traditional music family in Rajasthan in India. Consequently, he studied music – sarangi and tabla – since the age of seven. He received his first lessons from his grandfather Ustad Azim Khan, who was one of the best and most famous sarangi players and singers of his time. Other teachers were his older brothers Ustad Aziz Khan and Babu Khan. Hanif Khan’s father Ustad Majid Khan was a sarangi legend as was his world-renowned brother Ustad Sultan Khan.

Hanif Khan has played in numerous concerts with Ustad Sultan Khan in India, USA, West Asia, UK, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Austria and New Zealand, as well with many international musicians – Nana Simopoulos and David Liebman.
